Last month, hundreds of people gathered in the streets of Bellingham to take part in the “Fun with Fuzz” 5K race. As whimsical as the title may sound, the meaning behind the race’s existence weighs heavy on the hearts of many.
All the proceeds made from the race go directly to the Behind the Badge Foundation- an organization that aims to honor the sacrifices of officers who have died or suffered a catastrophic injury in the line of duty. This year’s “Fun with the Fuzz” event held great meaning to the Washington State Patrol who is still mourning the loss of Detective Brent Hanger.
More than 100 people – including his family – ran on behalf of Detective Hanger- winning them the “Largest Team” award! Washington State Patrol Troopers were on duty during the race to ensure everyone’s safety and help provide traffic control assistance. The Washington State Patrol Trooper Association was also a Level 3 Sponsor of the event.
However, it was the Washington State Patrol District 7 Motors who had the honor
to escorting the runners. Sergeant Timothy Crane says it was “a great day for the State Patrol family to show support for the Hanger’s and to support a great cause.”
The “Fun With The Fuzz” team put on a great event and we couldn’t be more honored to take part.
