On May 23, 2016, Washington State Patrol’s Okanogan Detachment wins 2015 District 6 Detachment of the Year for their strong efforts in reducing fatality collisions, injury collisions and their overall performance throughout 2015.

The Detachment is led by Sergeant Lex Lindquist and closely supported by Office Assistant 3 Terri Yaksic. It is with their support and leadership that Okanogan County saw a 33% reduction in fatality collisions from 2014 to 2015, and a 22% reduction in injury collisions. This is due to the overwhelming commitment to public safety the troopers assigned to Okanogan County have demonstrated through education and enforcement and working closely with their local law enforcement and public safety partners.

The Detachment, although reduced in resources, increased the number of DUI drivers removed from our roadways by 40%. Speeding driver contacts increased by 85%. The Detachment also increased aggressive driving contacts by 166% and seat belt and child restraint enforcement increased by 85%.

“I am extremely proud of this team’s efforts and hard work. They have not only made the roadways in Okanogan County much safer, but more so they have made a positive impact and difference in the community,” said Captain Rob Huss; District 6 Commander.
