Today we remember fallen Trooper Thomas Hanlin who died in the line of duty on May 26, 1945.
Trooper Hanlin passed away from injuries sustained 18 months after flipping his paddy wagon on the Mount Baker Highway near Deming. His injuries were first considered minor bruises but a later diagnosis revealed he suffered from a major head injury.
Trooper Hanlin was a great uncle to Trooper Cliff Pratt (District 2), uncle to retired Trooper Don Pratt, and first cousin to retired CVEO Fred Soper. Trooper Hanlin’s widow, Fran Hanlin, went to work for the Patrol as a secretary in District 1 after his death.
Please take a moment to remember Trooper Thomas Hanlin and his family.
