The holidays are here, and that means it’s finally time for one of our favorite events: “Shop with a Cop!”
Washington State Patrol Troopers and other law enforcement agencies spend time with children in need for a one-on-one holiday shopping experience!
Sergeant Leary, who attended this year’s event, said “it was heart warming to see the smiles on the kids’ faces!”
“It makes you appreciate the things you have in life no matter how small. The kids were selfless and caring for others instead of themselves. Most of them wanted to make others happy by buying gifts that weren’t for them. Most kids want, want, want, but that was not the case here. I don’t know the exact background of the kids or parents, but I know some do not have a lot or are unable to afford presents. There is a deep sense of caring in our young generation, that showed last night. I was happy we were invited to participate in this event and look forward to helping the community next year” said Sergeant Leary.
Trooper Ramey also participated in this year’s “Shop with a Cop” event. He said it was a “fun way to interact with the community and especially the kids! The excitement on the kids’ faces as they picked out their “Cop” to shop with was just as fun to watch as helping them pick out gifts. I really look forward to supporting more of these events.”
We can’t wait to do it again next year!
