Earlier this week, Washington State Patrol Chief John R. Batiste promoted five individuals who have gone above and beyond for the State of Washington and its citizens.
“I cannot thank them enough for their willingness to accept greater responsibility,” Chief Batiste said during Tuesday’s promotion ceremony.
Although working in all different parts of the state, these five individuals will assume their new positions with the goal of making Washington a better and safer place to be.

Promoted from Investigative Assistance Division Lieutenant to Captain of the Property Management Division.
Chad L. Cross
Promoted from the Fire Training Academy’s Assistant Division Commander to Assistant State Fire Marshal Assigned to the Fire Training Academy.
Kelly R. Merz
Promoted from the Fire Training Academy’s Chief Deputy Fire Marshal to their Assistant Division Commander.
Gabriel P. Olson
Promoted from Sergeant assigned to Bellevue to Lieutenant of the Investigative Assistance Division.
Amelia J. Cooper
Promoted from Communications Officer 3 in Marysville to Communications Officer 4 assigned to Bellevue.
