Have you ever been driving down the road on a rainy day, turn a corner, and your car loses control? That’s called skidding, and it can be a scary situation for a lot of drivers.
When turning corners on slick roadways, your car has a greater potential to “fishtail.” Fishtailing is a type of skid that occurs when a vehicle’s back tires lose traction and causes the car’s rear end to swing.
Trooper Travis Joyce has some tips on how to control a fishtail skid:
Step 1: Look where you want to go
Step 2: Reduce power
Step 3: Steer in the direction of the skid and wait for your car to regain traction.
